You know you have a curious and probably very clever child on your hands when your little one can’t keep out of mischief.
He or she is constantly in the kitchen cupboards, there’s probably flour or sugar spilling out of the bags, the clothes in the laundry basket have probably been tipped out, the books in the bookcase have are strewn all over the floor, the shoes in the storage cupboard have been tried on and are lying with their missing halves elsewhere in all nooks and crannies. And all of this chaos has been caused by a 3 year old who was just getting bored.
To parents, this kind of behaviour is annoying because it creates more work for us. We have to constantly tidy up and clean up and admonish and try to find a punishment that fits. You can forget trying to get your little one to tidy up for you because they probably think that making a mess is good fun and probably don’t realize what you mean by “mess”.
Curious Young Minds Need Stimulation and A Challenge
In reality, whilst this kind of behavior is hard work for the grown-ups, the flipside to this is that your little one is bored and needs something more stimulation to keep him occupied.
Lego building bricks and Lego Star Wars Characters are just the toys to give them in this instance. They fuel your youngster’s vivid imagination and the different colored-bricks and shapes of the Lego pieces means they can have hours of fun trying to join the pieces up any which way that they can.
Anything that involves using their hands is a good toy that keeps inquisitive minds and wandering hands busy. Jigsaw puzzles are good too but a 20 piece set will be completed in about 10 to 20 minutes and if you get the larger 100-piece jigsaw puzzles then these will probably be too complicated for your child.
Something like Lego Duplo bricks or brick building sets are limitless as your child can create whatever he puts his mind to.
For older children, nine years old and above, Lego Mindstorms are an excellent and educational toy for curious and clever minds because your kids actually build and program their own robot and watch it do things!
Although inquisitive children can make lots of mess for parents to clean up, always remember that this is not bad behavior but simply tha t your child is clever and wants to find out all about the world around him.
